Fruitvale is a dynamic nabe that has recently flourished into an artistic haven for East Bay locals. This nabe located in the southern region of Oakland is known for its colorful festivals, amazing food, and vibrant shopping district. A prime example of transit-oriented living, Fruitvale offers a medley of new housing and retail options, all centered around the nabe's BART station. Fruitvale's fusion of new and old attracts visitors of all kinds, making it one of the most exciting destinations in the bay area!
Fruitvale has long been known to Bay Area residents as the best place to get tacos AKA as a Latino ghetto. Although it still holds this title, Fruitvale has undergone some serious renovations. More specifically, in an effort to increase the use of public transportation, a development has sprung up around the BART station. Riders stepping off of BART are welcomed into Fruitvale Village, a modern commercial district with loft spaces for rent up above. Don’t let the colorful fountains and palm trees fool you though. Outside of this commuter heaven are still some rough neighborhoods.
