We moved here 2 yrs ago and the area is perfect for us since we both work downtown. A lot of our friends from work live here and its great for families. The neighborhood is incredibly safe and has all of the benefits of living in Manhattan without the hectic lifestyle! There's a lot of outdoor space, trees and bike lanes, there's even a little mall... The only problem with Battery Park is that it's hard to get to the rest of Man... Read the full review »![]()
I took the tram out here for a bit of a tourist ride and it was beautiful! We crossed the river and got all of these nice views of Manhattan and Roosevelt Island. There were some nice parks and some historical-type stuff. It was fun but once night fell we left since there isn't much in the way of evening activities here. Read the full review »![]()
Like all New York neighborhoods, this one is changing. It used to be a graveyard after the 9-5'ers went home. There wasn't much in the way of dining or attractions except to see the suits race towards the New York Stock Exchange. But nowadays people are moving into luxury condos, bringing more and more bars and restaurants and attracting more tourists to the South Street Seaport for waterfront views, shopping and the mandatory w... Think Gossip Girl. Think New York in the Springtime when the sidewalk trees are in bloom in Carnegie Hill (the most beautiful time to be here). Carnegie Hill is one of the most elegant and charming nabes in New York. Everything is clean, the large brownstones (often single family homes) are reminiscent of 19th and early 20th Century New York, and yummy mummies run to and from yoga and pilates with the nanny tripping behind with ... Having recently relocated to New York from California, it doesn't seem to get much better than life in Brooklyn Heights. It's a stunning neighborhood that feels more Manhattan than Brooklyn and its promenade is one of my favorite spots to read a book or people watch. Brooklyn Heights has no shortage of good food, especially Middle Eastern fare. My one complaint would be the lack of a singles scene here. Strollers dominate the si... Read the full review »![]()
The Upper West Side has a lot of things going for it - good subway access, located between two parks, plenty of grocery stores. Honestly, it has started to feel a little like the suburbs. There are some smaller businesses and independent restaurants, but are primarily located on Amsterdam and Columbus below 86th Street. Most of what you find on Broadway though is pretty generic, and there is very little that I would describe ... Read the full review »![]()
One day I'll make it, and I'll get an apartment in Tudor. It's the only place I want to live, because if I'm going to be living in New York, I want to do it in style. LOL :-) It's a beautiful area. Read the full review »![]()
This is definitely one of the most expensive commuter suburbs in Queens (a quick 30 minute LIRR ride into Manhattan): think landscaped yards and mansions with the added bonus of urban amenities and city tax rates. The Village Voice named it the safest hood in New York City, and it's recently becoming more diverse. Chinese, Greek, and Korean families are finding a home here, joining a thriving Italian community. Read the full review »![]()
It was pretty exciting to watch our first episode of GG after having moved to the UES (in fact they were filming outside our building one of our first weeks here), but real life is definitely different from what is shown on the show. I mean, my limo is only regular length. But in seriousness, there are many people who live on the UES that are not super rich (present company included) and there's definitely a great side the nei...
