    Nob Hill, San Francisco

    I'll Take a Brandy, Please.

Nob Hill is so quintessentially San Francisco, with it’s steep hills, cable cars, and glorious Victorian mansions….if you can find a miniature of it in a San Francisco tourist shop, find the real big deal on Nob Hill. Those who struck it rich in the Gold Rush made their homes here in the 19th century, followed by the silver tycoons and then the railroad tycoons, so Nob Hill is packed with California history.

Though some locals call it “Snob Hill”, I think they’re just jealous because they can’t afford one of the mansions. Nightlife buzzes here! Polk street offers dive bars, sports bars, wine bars, chocolate bars, any type of bar you want, packed with young people of every sort. Catch a cabe car on California Street, and if you really love cable cars, visit the Cable Car Barn & Museum on Mason Street, where you can freely observe the machinery that keeps them running. Nob Hill also boasts Grace Cathedral, a stunning Gothic cathedral that boasts the title of largest Gothic structure in the West.
