Lower Pacific Heights

Infomation

Once considered a seedy spot, Lower Pacific Heights has shed its bad rep and reinvented itself over the years with a shiny new identity. Since the housing boom of the 90s, the real estate here has undergone a considerable revitalization–locals rejoice! Divisadero and Fillmore Streets are a simply stroll away, both teeming with restaurants, nightlife and shopping.

Shopping

Yes Union Square may be considered as the shopping mecca, but it lacks the authentic boutique stores of Lower Pac Heights. Rather than pushing through lines through the atypical Macy’s, Neiman’s, or H&M, streets like Fillmore and Union have a lot more clothing that you won’t find in the big department stores. When I say “different” here I don’t mean the hippy-esque clothing of Haight Street, but more mainstream clothing that no one quite has worn yet. Plus, there are tons of cute cafes and nice restaurants if you need a pause to ensure you don’t shop ’til you drop.

It's all happening

Another nabe that has gentrified almost fully. Lower Pac Heights is home to Fillmore Street, where great shopping and delicious dining are abundant. It’s pretty busy here so don’t expect quiet streets because you’re not going to find them. You will find St. Dominic’s, a Gothic styled church that towers over the hood. All in all, this is a great, happening part of town.
