CHECK-IN Wythe Hotel

By Nabewise

THE LOCATION: Williamsburg, Brooklyn

THE VIBE:  On the Williamburg waterfront, this 72-room hotel embodies a covetable mix-and-match aesthetic (high pine beams, exposed brick, curated found items) for which local canteens likeMarlow & Sons and Hotel Delmano are best known. Because Andrew Tarlow of Marlow & Sons and Diner fame is involved, it’s a hit with the local young foodie and design set.

CROWD CLOSELY RESEMBLES: Isabel Marant wearing Manhattanites who want an outer-borough experience with a just-off-the-Bedford-Avenue-stop feel and the aesthetic creature comforts of the Lower East Side’s old world charm; Willowy hipsters with deep pockets and skinny jeans.

ROOM TO BOOK: Traveling with a crew? The Band Rooms will comfortably sleep four to six people in quasi bunk beds. Groupies welcome. Many of the rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, and did we mention that the poured concrete floors are heated? Mini-bars are stocked with artisanal liquor, homemade ice cream and granola from Marlow & Sons. There’s no room service, but we promise you won’t mind.

DON’T MISS: Much of the activity centers around the Ides, the new rooftop bar where a bespectacled clientele downs reasonably priced cocktails while feverishly instagramming photos of the insane panoramic views. For a pitch-perfect meal you don’t have to go further than downstairs toReynard, the Art-Deco style restaurant that is known for serving up the freshest daily-changing locavore style menu. (Think roasted beets, grilled turnips, and rabbit meatballs.)

GET OUTSIDE: There’s a bike borrowing program at the hotel, so hop on a cruiser and hit the streets of Williamsburg. Also, a food festival called Smorgasburg is put on by the folks from Brooklyn Flea Food Market on the waterfront every Saturday in the summer. Look for vendors like People’s Pops and Red Hook Lobster Pound. Nandita Khanna (@dresslikenan)
