Mill Island, Brooklyn

by Nabewise

Infomation

Mill Island is a small, secluded neighborhood of Brooklyn right on Jamaica Bay. Some of the property is being bought up by investors who are razing the houses and erecting newer, flashier homes in their stead. Overall, Mill Basin itself is a suburban haven with lots of green yards and driveways. A drawbridge connects this remote community with the Belt Parkway, while most other street traffic has to come through Georgetown.

A friend of mine and I heard about this crazy Kosher Deli in Mill Basin where you can get a monster Pastrami on Rye so we headed over there. It didn’t look like there was much going on over there although the area was beautiful. The sandwich was crazy good by the way. This place was about as quiet and suburban as you could imagine in New York City but maybe it would be cool for a family or something.Joey
