High Street Hill is a pocket nabe within Brookline Village. Once known as Pill Hill because of the many medical professionals who called this place home, High Street Hill boasts beautiful Victorian homes, several parks and playgrounds, and lovely views of Leverett Pond. The long-lived High Street Hill Association organizes historical tours and community events in the nabe (it's been active for over 50 years!). Owning a victorian in High Street Hill would put you over the top in terms of status symbols. That is to say, one should be so lucky to live here. The lack of transportation goes to show that traveling to work requires residents to own a functional automobile and, as is seen in this nabe, a private and secluded driveway.

Caroling and Barn Dances, Galore!
Like many of the Brookline nabes, High Street Hill is a picturesque little area, populated with big old Victorian Homes, tree lined sidewalks, and green front lawns with a pup or two running around the yard. The homes are mostly old, adding to the character of the nabe and making them quite interesting to look at. People take pride in their homes and maintain the historical integrity of the buildings while also bringing them up to date. History is a big part of the community here and the community itself is quite tight knit and there are many events held throughout the year such as caroling, a Father’s Day picnic on the Green and even a Barn Dance to name a few! People in the nieghborhood are professionals ranging from doctors (as the description so aptly pointed out deeming the nabe “Pill Hill”) to professors and many in between. With a community like that, however, it can only mean that the cost of living is pretty high here and it is. It’s an affluent but subtle community (ie not too many flashy cars or garish decor) and people always seem very happy and content with the world, here!
