Tiny, and peaceful
Portage Bay is a tiny little nabe snuggled against the body of water it draws its name from. This is an expensive, gorgeous and quite lovely nabe. It’s also super tiny, somewhere in the ten square block range. The unfortunate existence of the I-5 bridge that crosses into the U-District creates an excess of noise while also providing unnecessary shade as the sun sets in the west. Beyond all that, this is truly a wonderful Seattle nabe. It is quiet, gorgeous, heavily wooded, and with plentiful access to the water, one of the most relaxing central Seattle nabes.

Portage Bay… it's so tiiinny
Portage Bay’s boarders are created by I-5 to the east, the 520 to the south, and Lake Washington to the north and west. It’s very small and relatively expensive because of it’s proximity to Lake Washington. It’s a convenient location for people looking to alternate between several areas of Seattle having quick access to the floating 520 bridge, I-5 bridge, or mainstreets flowing south and southwest. It’s an awkward safety spot from hipsters being close to the U district and Cap Hill, and you’ll find mostly upper class families. Parking could be difficult if you don’t have a zone pass, but public transportation is good and will drop you off a short block or two from your destination. You’ll have to travel outside of Portage Bay for schools and most of your fine dining or other entertainment, but there are many options just at your fingertips like Broadway or the “Ave” over in the U district.
